Rev. Amy Cantrell lives/works in the intentional community, BeLoved Asheville. BeLoved is a community of people putting love into action every day. We bring people from all walks of life together to tackle some of the most challenging problems of our time: homelessness, poverty, and racism. BeLoved’s projects includes: BeLoved Village of deeply affordable homes, massive relief work in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the first homeless Street Medic Team in the nation, Racial Healing & Cultural Organizing including Asheville en Espanol and Asheville in Black, Rise Up Art Studio, being the first declared sanctuary in WNC, free farmers markets and community gardens, as well as advocacy campaigns around affordable housing, homelessness, police brutality, gentrification, and systemic racism. She is a pastor in the Presbyterian Church, USA and practices as an interfaith public minister. She was school educated at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, GA and was street educated on Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta at the Open Door Community and on South French Broad and Grove Streets at BeLoved Asheville.
